End Table
I designed and built this table my final semester of my undergraduate degree. Thanks to making friends with the design school shop teacher and the campus arborists, I was able to savage a piece of a tree that was cut down at my university.
The process of construction included cutting the table top down to size, planing, sanding, securing what bark remained, and many MANY coats of polyurethane. For the base I welded a simple steel frame, which is meant to contrast the mass of the wood upper.
The design is meant to showcase the beauty and rawness of both the wood and the steel. This tree was cut down due to disease. The wood patterns caused by the disease was something I found beautiful , almost reminding me of a watercolor and I wanted to showcase.

STUDY ABROAD
In the Fall of 2009 I was fortunate enough to study in Florence Italy for a semester. The following photos and sketches show a glimpse into some of the places I travel and art I observed.
